Some of the most requested services at Medical Cosmetics are our laser treatments because they provide exceptional results for aging and sun damaged skin. We offer many different types of laser treatment services, but would love to tell you about our top 3 which provide a unique set of benefits. Here are a few things you should know about these innovative treatments.
Fractionated CO2 Laser Treatment
This treatment works not only on the skin’s surface, but deep into the dermis. It’s a non-invasive treatment that meticulously targets a fraction of skin at a time, ensuring excellent results. It works by targeting water in the skin. The laser light becomes heat from the very first cell hit by the light. The benefits of a CO2 laser on the skin are tremendous. It treats a wide variety of skin concerns including:
- Fine Lines
- Acne Scarring
- Skin Laxity
A fractionated CO2 laser treatment provides optimal results, but there are a few things to keep in mind before having the procedure performed. Because of its powerful effects on the skin there is more downtime involved while your skin heals, and it has a higher cost. But, if you’re looking for a skin transformation, this is the treatment of choice.
Fractionated Non-Ablative Laser Treatment
“Fractionated” means that a certain percentage of the skin is directly hit with the laser light. Depending upon the machine it could vary from 3% to 78% of the skin. In the case of our non-ablative laser, a 1540 nm wavelength laser, the light does not become heat until it passes through several cell layers.
This treatment concentrates its power underneath the skin’s surface, minimizing injury to the top layers of skin. A fractionate non-ablative laser treatment provides beautiful and effective results with less downtime than the fractionated CO2 laser. It typically requires a series of three to four treatments to achieve maximum results. This treatment is a great option if your goals are to tighten and tone the skin. It’s also very useful for reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, scars and surface irregularities. You can expect one or two days of downtime after each treatment.
IPL stands for “intense pulsed light.” While an IPL Photofacial doesn’t use a laser, it does utilize a broad spectrum of light to achieve fantastic results. An IPL Photofacial uses different light filters to target specific skin concerns. For example, if a client wanted to improve hyperpigmentation, then a particular color of light would be used. For fine red veins in the epidermis, a different light filter could be selected. We can also use a filter that targets multiple concerns simultaneously.
This is a highly customizable treatment that provides excellent results, and men and women love it. We use it for acne scarring, brown spots, rosacea, sun damage and vascular conditions. Downtime is minimal and typically lasts one or two days. Depending on your goals, a series of treatments may be required to see optimal results.
