7 Easy Ways to Reduce Your Wrinkles


No one likes wrinkles – they can make you look much older than you really are. The good news is there are several easy ways to prevent them from blemishing your bright, youthful skin. Here are some of our favorites:

Drink Water

Yes, water. It’s one of the simplest ways to keep your skin healthy. When your body is hydrated, your skin is hydrated and when your skin is hydrated, it stays plump. After all, wrinkles are caused by a lack of moisture, so plenty of water can reduce and prevent wrinkles.

Stop Smoking

If you’re a smoker but don’t want wrinkles, put down the cigarettes! Smoking depletes your skin of elasticity and when you lose elasticity, it’s easier for your skin to develop wrinkles. This can happen even if you don’t smoke and are around others who smoke. If this is the case, ask them to stop or move to another area.

Reduce Stress

Stress affects many parts of your body, both physically and emotionally. Physically, stress can make your skin thin and weak, which means it can’t fight off the elements that produce wrinkles. Find something that de-stresses you and make it a habit – whether it’s listening to music, going for a run, or taking a bubble bath, your skin and your mind will thank you.

Use Natural Masks

There are plenty of face masks that you can make right at home to prevent wrinkles and get rid of fine lines. For example:

  1. Boil two or three large carrots until soft. Then, blend with some honey to form a paste. Apply the paste to your face and leave it on for 30 minutes before rinsing off.
  2. Gently rub fresh lemon juice (a natural astringent) on your face and leave it on for 5-10 minutes and then rinse with water. Repeat 2-3 times each day.
  3. Mash one fresh banana and one fresh papaya together to create a paste. Apply the paste to your face and leave on for 20 minutes before rinsing off.

Eat Well

What you put in your body is reflected in your skin and just like water, certain foods can help boost your vitamin and antioxidant intake to help prevent wrinkles. Some great wrinkle-preventing foods include:

  • Almonds
  • Shellfish
  • Dark-colored vegetables
  • Eggs
  • Avocados
  • Pineapples
  • Salmon
  • Beans and lentils

Wear Sunscreen

When you expose your skin to ultraviolet rays of sun, they can damage your collagen and in turn, promote wrinkles. One easy way to prevent this is to protect your skin with sunscreen. The sun can be damaging even in the winter, so use an SPF of at least 15 at all times and make sure it’s higher during extended exposure.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is essential for healthy brain function and is also essential for healthy skin. If you don’t sleep enough, your body produces cortisol – a stress hormone that slows the growth of healthy tissue in your skin. Without healthy tissue, your skin will start to sag and look sallow, leading to wrinkles.
