What is a IPL Photofacial Treatment?
Photofacials are revolutionary face treatments that use light spectrum technology to effectively and painlessly combat many types of skin conditions. Such skin conditions include acne scars, brown spots, hair removal, rosacea, sun damage, and vascular conditions. An IPL photofacial treatment can also perform non-ablative fractional laser rejuvenation, which will improve the appearance of wrinkles, brown spots, and even some minor scars. This is done without damaging the surface layer of skin. As an added benefit, a photofacial will boost collagen production which will result in younger looking skin.
How it Works
At Medical Cosmetics, we use a StarLux IPL (intense pulsed light) machine for photofacial treatments. This machine utilizes wavelength technology that works much like a laser. But with IPL technology, the entire spectrum of light can be used. This allows for much faster, and more effective treatment. In other words, a photofacial is a facial that uses light technology instead of chemicals or other products. Photofacials work so well because the face is amongst the treatment areas that show the highest levels of post-treatment improvement when using StarLux IPL technology.
The Photofacial Treatment Process
After your consultation, this painless treatment begins with our esthetician applying a thin layer of gel on the treatment area. The device will be set based on our esthetician’s careful and skilled evaluation of your skin type, skin color, and treatment goals. Our esthetician will then put the StarLux IPL treatment head on your skin to deliver the machine’s precise pulses of light to necessary areas. The light will convert to heat energy and target the lower levels of the skin, without harming the top layers. The treatment process lasts only about 20 minutes.
As previously stated, our StarLux IPL photofacial is painless. It is noninvasive and involves no chemicals or surgical procedures. At Medical Cosmetics, our treatment utilizes wavelength technology to provide our clients with a rejuvenating photofacial that will result in beautiful skin with little or no downtime. The most common side effect is redness. Our goal is to provide our clients with the best procedures that involve the least amounts of pain. With our photofacial treatment, you can be back to your regular schedule almost immediately with beautiful and glowing skin.
