What is Seborrheic Keratosis?
Seborrheic keratosis is a common skin growth condition that is brown or black in color and rough or smooth in appearance. It can be raised or flat and should not be mistaken for a wart, cancer, or precancerous condition. Seborrheic Keratoses are often referred to as “raised age spots.” They can be caused by both genetics and age. Seborrheic Keratosis do not go away on their own and you cannot prevent them from occurring. However, our professional medical estheticians at Medical Cosmetics can offer Seborrheic Keratosis treatment which is both effective and painless.
When it comes to professional treatment for Seborrheic Keratosis, we have cutting edge technology called ESKATA. ESKATA is unique because it is the least invasive procedure out there. It is the first and only FDA-approved topical treatment that can treat raised seborrheic keratoses. ESKATA is also a preferred treatment method because of its low-risk of producing scarring.
How ESKATA Works
Seborrheic Keratosis treatment doesn’t have to be painful. ESKATA involves no lasers, nor do you need to go under the knife. ESKATA is instead applied with a pen-like device that contains a proprietary topical solution. The solution contains prescription strength (40%) hydrogen peroxide that can only be used by medical professionals. Our medical aesthetician is specially trained to apply the device’s soft applicator directly to your Seborrheic Keratoses.
The procedure itself does not take long. Our staff will simply treat each raised seborrheic keratoses 4 times, approximately 1 minute apart. ESKATA works by utilizing a reaction called “peroxide whitening.” You will meet with our esthetician to have the procedure done. Three weeks later, you will meet with us again so we can evaluate treatment results. If the Seborrheic Keratosis is still visible, we will apply ESKATA treatment once more and evaluate the results again. Two treatments have been efficient for most patients.
